I’m nerdy, super-duper shy and VERY introverted.
And I’ve struggled with low self-confidence for years (probably since I squawked horribly off-key during a singing solo during Sunday mass when I was a kid…Hallelu-yikes. 🎶)
As a grown-up, stepping into the spotlight was a nightmare for me (think: nausea, sweat and nerves). But when I started working as a media spokesperson, I HAD to get my sh*t together.
After lots of sweat, tears and cursing, I finally stood, terrified, in front of microphones. TV cameras. And big audiences.
Hi, I’m Cecilia.
And I'm probably the last person on earth you'd expect to do this job.
And I learned two important things:
Public speaking is a SKILL-SET that anyone can learn.
Real confidence ISN’T about #hustle, fancy handbags or hairdos. Stepping up means SERVICE. Solving problems. And sharing your ❤️ heart out.
I created Kick Stage Fright to be the fiesty next-door neighbour you want to hang with (…join us on the back deck for a cool Dark n’Stormy 🥃 🍪 and homemade cookies).
As Canadian rock legends Trooper remind us, “we’re here for a good time, not a long time” (yup, I’m ancient). And that’s EXACTLY the kind of energy needed to create a future you’ve always dreamt of.
So, I decided to share what I’d learned.
Forget feeling nervous…it’s time to show up with some salty, sassy North Atlantic 🌊 confidence (and make the world take notice).
🚨 News Flash: Public speaking sucks.
If you’re like me, stepping up in the spotlight is no fun at all.
From clammy hands and shaky voice to the crowd of strangers staring 👀 at us, public speaking often feels like a Hallowe’en horror show.
And we’re not alone in our sweaty misery.
According to studies:
50-75% adults admit to struggling with stage fright in their career
Top 3: Fear of public speaking ranks in TOP 3 of fears for adults in the US
45% feel their fear of public speaking hampers their career growth (Sources: ….)
Employers estimate that their organizations lose
And with 70% of jobs now requiring public speaking, it’s no surprise that poor communication skills can have a negative impact on your career, business, and earning power.
If any of this sounds familiar, I FEEL YOUR PAIN.
