Hi, I’m Cecilia.

And I'm probably the last person on earth you'd expect to do this job.

I’m nerdy, super-duper shy and VERY introverted.

And I’ve struggled with low self-confidence for years (probably since I squawked horribly off-key during a singing solo during Sunday mass when I was a kid…Hallelu-yikes. 🎶)

As a grown-up, stepping into the spotlight was a nightmare for me (think: nausea, sweat and nerves). But when I started working as a media spokesperson, I HAD to get my sh*t together.

After lots of sweat, tears and cursing, I finally got my terrified ass in front of microphones. TV cameras. And audiences.

And I learned 2 important things:

  1. Public speaking is a SKILL-SET that anyone can learn.

  2. Real confidence ISN’T about #hustle, fancy handbags or hairdos. Stepping up means SERVICE. Solving problems. And sharing your ❤️ heart out.

So, I decided to share what I’d learned.

Turns out, I wasn’t the only one struggling in the spotlight.

According to studies:

  • a whopping 50-75% adults struggle with stage fright at some point, listing public speaking as a “top fear”

  • 70% of jobs now require public speaking (like delivering presentations, media interviews, sales pitches, workshops, trainings….)

  • poor communication skills can lead to lower wages, fewer job offers, and less opportunities for promotion

And with women still facing significant pay gaps 💵 and equality challenges…the deck is seriously stacked against us.

So, I decided to do something about it.

I wrote a book, started a newsletter, and started working with clients. And I created Her Big Speech to be the fiesty next-door neighbour you want to hang with (join us on the back deck for a cool Dark n’Stormy 🥃 🍪 and homemade cookies).

As Canadian rock 🎸 legends Trooper remind us, “we’re here for a good time, not a long time” (yup, I’m ancient). And that’s EXACTLY the kind of energy needed to create a future you’ve always dreamt of.

Forget feeling nervous…it’s time to show up with some salty, sassy North Atlantic 🌊 confidence (and make the world take notice).
